Well I made it!

And raised £2200 in the process, full report to follow soon, I promise.

Start Tommorow

Down near the start point tonight. Went down to the lighthouse today and it was raging a gale, hopefully will ease off tommorow for me! All the gear is packed in the panniers ready to hook on tommorow. Just hope the legs have it in them or its going to be a long hard 8 days! Thanks again everybody for all the donations. Wish me luck!

Shopping and Cleaning

Rained so heavy today, so I went shopping for all the things I still needed, then I serviced and cleaned the bike.
Have to get out on bike again tommorow regardless of weather! urrently plagued with the worst back ache, can hadly move, hopefully ease off overnight. Not quite feeling fighting fit yet.

The Final Few Days

Got home yesterday from offshore. Weather is miserable. Did a short warm up blast on the roadie bike to remind the legs what they need to do. Longer one tommorow.

Start Date Set

The start date is now set as 24th August 2009. Originally it was going to be the 17th but I had my offshore rota changed which has put it back a bit.

Thanks to all those who have donated so far either via justgiving direct to me on sponsorship forms.

Training went well in my last leave, despit moving house! I managed to do a few good long runs and also made sure any shorter run were all very hilly!

I will be home in a week from offshore and have a week to blitz a bit of last minute training, collate all the remaining equipment i need and give the bike the once over.

As usual I have been a poor blogger! But will try and improve my blogging as the run draws near.

5 Lochs Cycle

pict1781Been getting some good miles in on bikes, a lot o shorter runs, but making sure I throw in big hills.
managed a longer run out to day with some good hils with Euan. Did some of the route I will be doing in August.
Was a fine say, maybe a bit hot though, went from Aberfoyle around loch Katrine and over forrest drive back to Aberfoyle. The 5 Lochs are Ard, Chon, Arklet, Katrine and Drunkie.

Home Again!

Just back from Offshore again, 3 weeks of R and R coming up, well in between some cycle training!

Did a blast to Kilmacom and back today on my new road bike, Lycra clad for the first time normally wear baggies on my hybrid).

I think I look not to bad if I say so myself.

Cheers guys for your recent donations, really appreciated for a worthwhile cause.

Faster Daddy, Faster!

Got out for a run with my “personal coach” on Friday night as the weather was lovely.  A wee jolly around the cycle tracks near me in Johnstone.dsc00191dsc00192

A Drier Than Expected Weekend - So Far

Put down a few miles this weekend, its been a bit drier than the weather forecasts suggested, and hopefully be the same tommorow.

Even managed an early morning cycle with my daughter in tow, she loves it.

Have a new bike (which will not be used for the run) which is great for traing runs as it is faster, but not as low geared so its good training up the hills.
